Mobile and smartphones are still big news! Smart Insights has listed mobile as one of their megatrends to watch out for 2017.
It’s not surprising, given that according to research;
- More than 50% of searches are on mobile
- 91% of Facebook usage (Daily Active users) is on mobile
- 80% of Facebook advertising revenue is on mobile
- People are 5 times more likely to leave a site if it isn’t mobile-friendly (Google)
Mobile hits all the key areas of digital marketing; web, email, social media, search, as well as apps (chat-based apps continue to grow in popularity). So how do you make sure your business is ready for the needs of a mobile-centric customer?
Top tip: Check your mobile presence
Check and preview all of your digital marketing activities on mobile, not just desktop. Given the importance of having a mobile-friendly site, Google’s mobile site checker will review your URL for mobile and give you a review, together with a full report showing areas for improvement. Google also has a free website speed checker which includes mobile.
Not to forget other channels too – for example when creating an ad for social media, ensure that your designer has considered mobile display (e.g. is the text large enough to be legible on mobile as well as desktop?).
